My console fixes for 2.1.107 can be downloaded from
http://www.cs.kuleuven.ac.be/~geert/bin/geert-2.1.107.diff.gz
Changes:
*!* Workaround for console_init() before memory_init(): replace ioremap() in vgafb.c/vesafb.c by bus_to_virt(). Tested for vgafb.c only (solves the black-on-black problem). *!* Add scrollback support for frame buffer device that support panning or wrapping. This includes vgafb, the VGA text mode frame buffer device. - Frame buffer doc fixes (content + typos) - Replace kerneld references by kmod - Correct the default palette (mistaken for a typo) - Show the Penguin! People want it :-) - Basic module support for fbcon-* low level drivers (not unloadable yet) - Make sure fbcon-* low level drivers are linked in if you want them in the kernel - Put the virtual frame buffer device last (in case anyone dares to include it) - Add mising closing brace in fbcon-ilbm.c - Fixed function calls inside init_module() in frame buffer devices
Suggested configuration for Intel machines:
CONFIG_FB=y CONFIG_FB_VGA=y CONFIG_FB_VESA=n [*] CONFIG_FB_VIRTUAL=n [*] CONFIG_FBCON_ADVANCED=n [*]
[*] unless you know what you're doing.
Have fun!
Greetings,
Geert
