Subjectpre2.1.106-1 bootup
I compiled pre2.1.106-1 recently. Everything compiled fine, except for a
few errors with mm/mmap.c, which I just manually fixed. However, when I
tried booting up, this happened:

PPP: version 2.3.3 (demand dialling)
TCP compression code copyright 1989 Regents of the University of
California
PPP line discipline registered.
SLIP: version 0.8.4-NET3.019-NEWTTY (dynamic channels, max=256) (6 bit
encapsulation enabled).
CSLIP: code copyright 1989 Regents of the University of California.
SLIP linefill/keepalive option.
eth0: 3c509 at 0x300 tag 1, 10baseT port, address 00 20 af d6 72 4f, IRQ
10.
3c509.c:1.12 6/4/97 becker@cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov
Partition check:
hda: hda1 hda2
NTFS version 980101
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly.
Freeing unused kernel memory: 44k freed

After the "Freeing unused kernel memory" message, nothing happened. Init
didn't start properly. It was running, as Alt-SysRq+T showed, but it
didn't do anything.

Any ideas?
