SubjectRE: challenge for linux-SMP hackers

> It dies in SMP mode when booting. In UP mode it works fine.

Okay, I've looked thru the patch named patch-2.0.29-mca-29Dec-1997.gz and
there is some code to give more info on the MCA machines when a NMI
occurs. The older patches don't do this. If the offender sets the pos
registers correctly during the NMI, the NMI handler will tell which slot
caused it and print the pertinent registers. At what point in the boot
does it happen, or do you get any kernel messages?

Have you tried defining CONFIG_IGNORE_NMI? Does NT run UP or MP?
