This bit me too - I've made it into a patch against 2.1.88. It's at ftp://dwmw2.robinson.cam.ac.uk/pub/kernel/aic7xxx-5.0.7-in-2.1.88

That looks like 2.1.87 to me. Could you try it on 2.1.88, or decode the oops so that we have more than a whelk's chance in a supernova of working out what's happening?
