System: Dell Inspiron 3000 laptop (586-233MMX, 48MB) egcs 1.1b glibc 2.1.100
Two things,
APM suspend worked for the first kernel version (I've tried .125, .126, .127). Using pcmcia-cs-3.0.6-Nov-10. But, if I close the lid to my laptop, it suspends. When I open it, it unsuspends but immediately suspends again. But if I hit the unsuspend button, it comes back up again normally (and stays up). Toggling APM_CONFIG_* options not withstanding.
Even with the double suspend, I'm pleased!
But my ethernet pcmcia card flakes out with

This is a heavily module laden kernel:

This happens on a freshly booted kernel (no previous suspend/standby) during an NFS 'ls -l'.

G'day!
