2.1.127pre1 + drivers/scsi/sd.c from 2.1.126pre2ac2 (module trouble; this is an IDE system, sd.o is for for use with a Zip drive) on i586/100, egcs-1.1a, binutils-2.9.1.0.15, glibc-2.0.98 boots fine. glibc-2.0.99 built fine.
OK, installed glibc-2.0.99 (compiled with 2.1.127pre1 kernel source, built under 2.1.126pre2ac2). Installation did not go smoothly, "make -k install" ends with:
/usr/bin/install -c /usr/src/build/build-glibc-2.0.99/elf/sln /sbin/sln.new mv -f /sbin/sln.new /sbin/sln (s=cd ../sysdeps/generic && /bin/pwd; \ cd /usr/src/build/build-glibc-2.0.99/elf && \ sed -n 's/^stub_warning *(\([^)]*\).*$/#define __stub_\1/p' \ sed -n -e '\@ ../sysdeps/generic/[^ ]*\.c@{; s@^.* ../sysdeps/generic/\([^ ]*\.c\).*$@'"$s"'/\1@; h; }' \ -e '/stub-tag\.h/{; g; p; }' \ dl-load.d dl-cache.d dl-lookup.d dl-object.d dl-reloc.d dl-deps.d dl-runtime.d dl-error.d dl-init.d dl-fini.d dl-debug.d dl-misc.d dl-version.d dl-profile.d dl-open.d dl-close.d dl-symbol.d dl-support.d dl-addr.d enbl-secure.d dl-profstub.d rtld.d dl-sysdep.d dl-environ.d dl-minimal.d soinit.d sofini.d eval.d interp.d dlopen.d dlclose.d dlsym.d dlvsym.d dlerror.d dladdr.d sprof.d sln.d lddlibc4.d /dev/null \ /dev/null) > /usr/src/build/build-glibc-2.0.99/elf/stubsT mv -f /usr/src/build/build-glibc-2.0.99/elf/stubsT /usr/src/build/build-glibc-2.0.99/elf/stubs make[2]: Leaving directory /usr/src/build/glibc-2.0.99/elf' /usr/bin/install -c -m 644 /usr/src/build/build-glibc-2.0.99/gnu/lib-names.h /usr/include/gnu/lib-names.h make[1]: *** No rule to make target subdir_install', needed by install'. make[1]: Target install' not remade because of errors. make[1]: Leaving directory /usr/src/build/glibc-2.0.99' make: *** [install] Error 2

2.1.126pre2ac{1,2} work fine here, never built 2.1.126 proper. 2.1.127pre1 works fine, and glibc-2.0.99 seems to work too. That's what I'm running right now. -- Horst von Brand vonbrand@sleipnir.valparaiso.cl Casilla 9G, Viña del Mar, Chile +56 32 672616
