I am trying to rebuild the kernel on my laptop - minimal space, so I have installed only a partial RedHat system. After installing the sources for 2.0.30 & then later 2.0.27 I get the following error trying to compile
In directory /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/compressed:
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -O2 -DSTDC_HEADERS -c misc.c -o misc.o misc.c:12: string.h: No such file or directory.
The file /usr/src/linux/include/linux/string.h does exist.
This duplicates for both versions of the kernel sources. I am sure it is a problem with my installation, but do not know what I messed up. Anyone care to give me a clue?
Thanks
