SubjectKernel Programming Tutorial

Hi *,

recently, there has been a small discussion on kernel tutorials.
Among others, Michael Beck's book was mentioned to be infomrative,
but rather outdated, as still refering to kernel 1.x .

To let you know, it has recently been re-released in it's original
language, German, with the subtitle "algorithms and structures
of version 2.0". I don't know about a translation into English.

I have only just acquired it, but it seems to be an >excellent< book.

Michael Beck: Linux-Kernelprogrammierung
Addison-Wesly, 1997, 4th edition
ISBN-No. 3-8273-1144-6

Main topics:
o introduction to the kernel
o memory management
o inter process communication
o file systems
o device drivers
o networking implementation
o modules
o multiprocessing

Best regards,
Peter
