1) all delays will be wrong if you use set6x86 after boot, because bogomips will have slower value. This is fatal. 2) it is needed for proper CPU detection. 3) I thought that it was you who found 6x86MX oopsing in fast_get_timer(). To workaround this you need CPU detection, which is main part of Cyrix patches.
