SubjectCyrix patches and proc

I am relatively new to this thread but have been reading about various Cyrix
patches. I managed to obtain the older 2.0.23 patch and the 2.1.5 patch. Both
patched fine, however in both cases when I cat /proc/cpuinfo it identifies my
chip as being a Pentium 75+. It says in the next line that it is a
CyrixSomething... I don't have the patched kernel running right now.

I have a Cyrix P150+, and everything seems to compile fine, except for the
2.1.13 kernel. I tried the 2.1.5 with the patch instead and it compiled fine.
The 2.1.13 kernel without the patch gives me the following error.

Has anyone run into this before? I tried recompiling it as a 486 thinking it
might be an compatibility problem with some Pentium assembly instructions, but
it gives the same error. Actually above is when I tried compiling as a 486.

As well it is necessary to use the patch? Other than setting proc info, which
doesn't seem to work on my machine, and optimizations for memory management, it
should work on its own.

I am using the set6x86 utility, to put the cpu into the power savings mode when
idle. 0xC2 set to 0x88 I believe.

What things am I doing wrong, and where can I get the patch #3, other than from
www.ecsnet.com which appears to be down.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Dan.
