Generalize set_drvdata(), drvdata_obtain() and drvdata_borrow() to take F: ForLt, enabling Higher-Ranked Lifetime Types (HRT) for device private data.
The data is initialized as F::Of<'bound> and stored as F::Of<'static>; ForLt guarantees covariance, making it sound to shorten the stored 'static lifetime to the borrow lifetime of &self.
