The lower ones are definitely within the capacity of the drive. I suspect
it _may_ genuinuely be faulty after all.

Back up your data.

If practical, try overwriting the whole disk, with something like:

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda

and see if it makes the errors go away.
