Yes, either of these is fine for pointers and integers alike:
#define likely(x) __builtin_expect ((x) != 0, 1) #define unlikely(x) __builtin_expect ((x) != 0, 0)
#define likely(x) __builtin_expect (!!(x), 1) #define unlikely(x) __builtin_expect (!!(x), 0)
