    Dear Walter,

    try:
    alias diff='diff -u'
    in .bashrc, and your diff will do, what everyone want to see here.

    while at it, you may also find these useful sometimes:
    alias lazydiff='diff -uiwbBd'
    alias drypatch='patch --dry-run'
