To me, 'decompressed' suggests that something was definitely once compressed, whereas 'uncompressed' suggests that it may never have been.

I totally agree. The possibility for introducing more errors is growing.

Things like teh instead of the are easily corrected, and it's useful for grepping through the kernel source.

What _would_ be useful, would be a script to validate all of the email addresses in comments in the kernel source. I found a typo in an E-Mail address once, and I'm sure there are probably more.
