Andi, it seems that you are the right person for this. It looks like my athlon dies in the __get_user call in __is_prefetch at boot up when bash is used as init process (look in [2.] for more details).

I didn't try any 2.5/2.6 kernels for a long time (around 2.5.70). Meanwhile I upgraded to Suse 8.2. When I compiled and booted the 2.6.0-test9-bk4 kernel first time, I got the following:

Then, I booted again with "init=/bin/bash" appended. Then the Oops in __is_prefetch occurs.
