SubjectPROBLEM: 2.4.18 kernel Segmentation Fault reading from CDU31a [CD Rom Drive]
[2.]
since I used Kernel 2.4.18 [in order to get an usb scanner going] ,
reading from my Sony CDU31a CD drive gets a Segmentation fault
[see attachment syslog, near the end of it]
Mounting and dir reading is possible however.
System usually hangs after that.
Remedy:using kernel 2.2.17 or 2.2.20.

[3.]
Module [CDU31a,CDrom]

[4.]
Linux version 2.4.18 (root@PENT) (gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian
prerelease)) #9 SMP Sat Jan 18 19:20:38 UTC 2003

[5.]
Oops Msg: see syslog Attachment

[6.]
mount /crom [works normal]
ls /cdrom [works normal]
cp /cdrom/something-big /tmp [Segmentation fault occurs]

work-around: booting Kernel 2.2.17 or 2.2.20 [latest pre 2.4.18 Kernel]
Remark: modul options are: cdu31a_port=0x230
[no interrupts. They didnt work with old kernel neither.]
CDU31 is connected onto a Soundblaster.Used to have CDU31 connected to WDH7102
With that, interrupts could be set and it worked.Tried that with the new 2.4.18
Kernel:
same Segmentation Fault.

Thank you and God bless.
