what do you mean by ACard? If you mean the PCI IDE card (ATP865 below)
- why would I boot off it? I am booting from harddrive.

I have no problems with ATAPI, to have CDROM on PCI IDE card is the
only option, if it's on the VIA onboard IDE the audio cd ripping does
not work (see the error while trying to rip using /dev/hdc which is
cdrom on on board IDE).
