Um, you know, all due repect to Knuth, the God, I think that someof his ideas are downright silly. Now, my suggestion is different, namely, inserting a 2 in the unit such as "K2B" meaning Kilo (base2) Byte. It's not like we don't have a precendent from the chemistry and physics fields.
