You are right. I shouldn't try to reserve memory regions using
request_region(). :) Applying your patch takes the code back closer
to what it did without my patch.

However, given what Alan says, the ultimate resource handling
fix SHOULD mark the relevant memory regions using the appropriate
function---as extant but not owned.

Here is my PnP BIOS patch with Andrey's patch integrated.
