SubjectRe:HD Problem.
I'm using 2.4.13-pre1.
here my dmesg reports:
the 1st is 2.4.13-pre1. The /dev/hdd errors was when it was trying to
write the partition table with fdisk.

the 2nd instead is dmesg for 2.2.19.
