There are still plenty of situations where this doesn't help. Booted from unsupported USB floppy or CDROM? Netboot? Linload? ROM image?
As for the >4k bug, this was a punt on my part. There should be better helper code in procfs to deal with handing out multiple pages and I didn't feel like creating it.
