Not necessary. These routines are quite simple so a 1 week period
spend in heavy tests by many people can prove the stability.

There are no so many 486 machines running 2.4 and there will be
less using 2.5/6. After passing the tests I want to see this patch
in 2.2 tree where it is more useful.
Of course if Alan accept it.
