Ah... Perhaps I should have mentioned that the drive works just fine reading. I.e. I can pull 100MB files off cd's on that drive without any errors occurring. I would think that would negate any of the above suggestions. I do know that the drive/case is quite warm, but I wouldn't think that would yield such a repeatable error.
