Promise RAID it totaal bullshit. It's a dual ULTRA66 controller with some
piece of software that does RAID.

The Promise does NOT do hardware RAID. I dumped the Promise card, end went
on software RAID on the controllers ob-board.

Not with IDE.

Get the IDE patch from Andre (/pub/kernel/people/andre)
Also get the RAID patch from Ingo Molnar (God forgive me if I spell this
wrong)
