there isn't a single active /dev/console line in the /etc/syslog.conf, but I have this though:
# Everybody gets emergency messages, plus log them on another # machine. *.emerg *
could this be causing it ? and if yes, that means that messages I am getting are emerg (ie. emergency ?) messages ?
