So if you put gasoline in your desiel mercedes does that make it a shoddy car? No, maybe a stupid car owner.
If you put a SCSI-I on an UWSCSI-3 and talk to it a UWSCSI-3 speeds do you not think that you will have problems?
You will not damage the drive, but you will damage the data in worst cases.
