Linux vhs 2.2.14 #10 Tue Feb 29 20:00:00 EST 2000 ppc unknown
Hello all,
I'm trying to compile 2.3.49-pre2 (and earlier) on my UMAX S900 (UP) PPC and I get the following error:
linux/fs/proc/ root.c: In function `proc_root_init': root.c:74: `proc_root_ppc_htab' undeclared (first use in this function) root.c:74: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once root.c:74: for each function it appears in.)
Is the code an old remnant that needs to be deleted? If I take it out, compiling bombs here:
linux/arch/ppc/kernel/setup.c starting at line 736: for (i=0; i<2 i++) id->words69_70[i] = __le16_to_cpu(id->words69_70[i]); for (i=0; i<4 i++) id->words71_74[i] = __le16_to_cpu(id->words71_74[i]); id->queue_depth = __le16_to_cpu(id->queue_depth); for (i=0; i<4 i++) id->words76_79[i] = __le16_to_cpu(id->words76_79[i]);
Hmm. semi-colons go on strike? :) Should read:
for (i=0; i<2; i++) id->words69_70[i] = __le16_to_cpu(id->words69_70[i]); for (i=0; i<4; i++) id->words71_74[i] = __le16_to_cpu(id->words71_74[i]); id->queue_depth = __le16_to_cpu(id->queue_depth); for (i=0; i<4; i++) id->words76_79[i] = __le16_to_cpu(id->words76_79[i]);
In the end, it poops out this: drivers/pci/pci.a(setup-res.o): In function `pci_assign_resource': setup-res.o(.text+0x0): multiple definition of `pci_assign_resource' arch/ppc/kernel/kernel.o(.text+0x7a2c): first defined here ld: Warning: size of symbol `pci_assign_resource' changed from 428 to 252 in setup-res.o kernel/kernel.o: In function `sysctl_init': kernel/kernel.o(.text.init+0x5e0): undefined reference to `init_irq_proc' make: *** [vmlinux] Error 1
If I remove SysCtl, it finishes the compile but fails to boot.
I've got plenty of compile warnings if anyone's interested (it takes some time to recompile).
Thanks,
