It fixes few compile-time bugs. "works for me"(tm)
It compilies for me, it boots for me, YMMY.
for that matter, i'm not sure about the apm fix, while it compiles it might be a wrong one...
now I'll see if I'll be able to duplicate the 'rm: io error' which I had with past kernels and as I understand should be fixed in 2.3.47.
..hmm ethernet does not work for me in this kernel (ifconfig eth0 up fails for me) .. that makes this kernel pretty much useless for me (kernel finds the card, 3c509, it just returns SIOCSIFFLAGS) ------------------------------------------------------------------ [adam@pepsi linux]$ diff -u fs/super.c{-orig,} --- fs/super.c-orig Mon Feb 21 01:15:39 2000 +++ fs/super.c Mon Feb 21 01:15:43 2000 @@ -1143,7 +1143,7 @@ sb->s_bdev = NULL; sb->s_flags = root_mountflags; sema_init(&sb->s_vfs_rename_sem,1); - sema_init(&s->s_nfsd_free_path_sem,1); + sema_init(&sb->s_nfsd_free_path_sem,1); vfsmnt = add_vfsmnt(sb, "/dev/root", "/"); if (vfsmnt) { if (nfs_root_mount(sb) >= 0) { ------------------------------------------------------------------ [adam@pepsi linux]$ diff -u arch/i386/kernel/mtrr.c{-orig,} --- arch/i386/kernel/mtrr.c-orig Mon Feb 21 01:20:01 2000 +++ arch/i386/kernel/mtrr.c Mon Feb 21 01:20:07 2000 @@ -1838,7 +1838,7 @@ proc_root_mtrr = create_proc_entry ("mtrr", S_IWUSR | S_IRUGO, &proc_root); proc_root_mtrr->ops = &proc_mtrr_inode_operations; #endif -#ifdev CONFIG_DEVFS_FS +#ifdef CONFIG_DEVFS_FS devfs_handle = devfs_register (NULL, "cpu/mtrr", 0, DEVFS_FL_DEFAULT, 0, 0, S_IFREG | S_IRUGO | S_IWUSR, 0, 0, &mtrr_fops, NULL); ------------------------------------------------------------------ [adam@pepsi linux]$ diff -u arch/i386/kernel/apm.c{-orig,} --- arch/i386/kernel/apm.c-orig Mon Feb 21 01:36:19 2000 +++ arch/i386/kernel/apm.c Mon Feb 21 01:49:12 2000 @@ -635,7 +635,7 @@ */ #ifdef CONFIG_SMP /* Some bioses don't like being called from CPU != 0 */ - while (cpu_number_map[smp_processor_id()] != 0) { + while ( smp_processor_id() != 0) { kernel_thread(apm_magic, NULL, CLONE_FS | CLONE_FILES | CLONE_SIGHAND | SIGCHLD); schedule(); ------------------------------------------------------------------
