That doesn't really matter much though... You have proceded beyond the 'simple' case. :)
You can always use a tiny bootloader like hpa's syslinux. I am currently typing on a kernel booted from a standard 3 1/2" floppy:

(...with /dev/fd0u1722, 1.44M floppies becomes 1.722M floppies...)
