The bug was actually fixed in pre4, at least for usb-uhci. pre3 freezes my kernel with usb-uhci and hangs the driver with uhci.
The patch that fixed this is available at http://alpha.dyndns.org/ov511/download/usb-uhci.patch in case you don't want to upgrade the whole kernel.
