8) Think a bit. If it were true, dummy interfaces would be useless.


Actually, it is useful to reread rfc1122, it contains interesting
rationale on "strong" and "weak" end system models. Early 2.1 really
had flag enabling "strong model", nad it only allowed to prove that
the concept is not well defined with current internet infrastructure
(dns etc) and with bsd socket api.
