Believe me, I know what your talking about from trying to patch the kernel myself since 2.2.5 with the infrequent RAID 0.90 patches - (they had one for 2.2.0, 2.2.3, 2.2.6, and 2.2.10). But these patches NEED to go in the kernel. Waiting until 2.4 is released is not an option, IMHO.
