    Ahah -- when I try this with a 120MB file, I get non-random miscompares!

    Out of 12 tests,

    it compared OK once.
    It broke at byte 1365812 four times
    24542708 twice
    2195188 twice
    three different place once each

    This does seem to point the finger at a software problem. Anyway,
    we'll try 2.0.36 and see what happens.
