Hi Alan Cox,

This is what /proc/scsi/scsi says on my host:

I think it may well be a problem of e2fs. Your method does not involve any file systems.

Mounting without inserting a disk does NOT fix the problem for me.

I see one in the kernel log when I issue a mount command.
I have appended a piece of syslog - it shows the following:
1) I insert, mount and directly unmount an ext2 formatted MO after having unmounted and removed an other ext2 formatted MO.

2) I mount a DOS-formatted MO

3) I mount the MO from 1) again
Jun 1 15:45:35 localhost kernel: VFS: Disk change detected on device sd(8,0) Jun 1 15:45:35 localhost kernel: SCSI device sda: hdwr sector= 2048 bytes. 4) I run e2fsck
fionn@rtfm[~] e2fsck /dev/sda e2fsck 1.12, 9-Jul-98 for EXT2 FS 0.5b, 95/08/09 /dev/sda contains a file system with errors, check forced. Hope this helps.
