Hi Stephen,

OK, then why this:

speedier.redhat.com:/ftp.redhat.com/redhat/old-releases/redhat-5.2/alpha/RedHat/RPMS
ncftp>dir gcc*
speedier.redhat.com:/ftp.redhat.com/redhat/old-releases/redhat-5.2/alpha/RedHat/RPMS
ncftp>dir egcs*
total 0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1451161 Oct 14 1998 egcs-1.0.3a-14.alpha.rpm
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1004074 Oct 14 1998 egcs-c++-1.0.3a-14.alpha.rpm
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1336327 Oct 14 1998 egcs-g77-1.0.3a-14.alpha.rpm
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 835783 Oct 14 1998 egcs-objc-1.0.3a-14.alpha.rpm

I guess you were talking about *Intel* ? The problem reported was about
an *Alpha* system. It appears to me that there is no gcc from Red Hat
for 5.2 / Alpha, only egcs compilers. If I'm wrong please point me to
the right RPMs !

In the mean time the "problem system" is still going strong (it's a news
server). The TCP connections that got stuck stay forever though:

Some netstat output:

I see there's a 2.2.7-ac2 out now. Will try and report when the problem
shows with it too.

Greetings,
