Oops, forgot the weird traceroutes from the previous message.
Tracing to the remote gateway only shows the local and remote gateways. Tracing beyond the remote gateway hangs at the PPP fake IP.
(tracing from local net to remote gateway, is correct) [jgarzik@bebop garzik]$ traceroute -n 10.10.10.1 traceroute to 10.10.10.1 (10.10.10.1), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 10.0.1.16 0.957 ms 0.758 ms 1.491 ms 2 10.10.10.1 151.343 ms 149.681 ms 159.817 ms
(tracing from local net to remote host, not correct, hangs at PPP address) [jgarzik@bebop garzik]$ traceroute -n 10.10.10.5 traceroute to 10.10.10.5 (10.10.10.5), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 10.0.1.16 0.925 ms 0.748 ms 0.749 ms 2 192.168.0.8 163.856 ms 159.792 ms 159.870 ms 3 * * * 4 * * *
