I'm having problems applying the cd-changer patch to kernel 2.2.8
The patch-routine works ok, but the problems comes when I try to compile a kernel with support for the cd-changer (http://unfix.org/projects/changer/).
If I try to compile it in the kernel, I get this error:
ld -m elf_i386 -T /usr/src/linux-2.2.8/arch/i386/vmlinux.lds -e stext arch/i386/kernel/head.o arch/i386/kernel/init_task.o init/main.o init/version.o \ --start-group \ arch/i386/kernel/kernel.o arch/i386/mm/mm.o kernel/kernel.o mm/mm.o fs/fs.o ipc/ipc.o \ fs/filesystems.a \ net/network.a \ drivers/block/block.a drivers/char/char.a drivers/misc/misc.a drivers/net/net.a drivers/scsi/scsi.a drivers/cdrom/cdrom.a drivers/pci/pci.a drivers/pnp/pnp.a drivers/video/video.a arch/i386/math-emu/math.a \ /usr/src/linux-2.2.8/arch/i386/lib/lib.a /usr/src/linux-2.2.8/lib/lib.a /usr/src/linux-2.2.8/arch/i386/lib/lib.a \ --end-group \ -o vmlinux init/main.o(.data.init+0x1dc): undefined reference to 'changer_setup' drivers/block/block.a(ll_rw_blk.o): In function 'blk_dev_init': ll_rw_blk.o(.text.init+0xb3): undefined reference to 'changer_init' make: *** [vmlinux] Error 1
This is what happens when I try to compile the changer.c-code
make[3]: Entering directory /usr/src/linux-2.2.8/drivers/block' gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux-2.2.8/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m386 -DCPU=386 -c -o changer.o changer.c changer.c: In function 'changer_init':changer.c:918: warning: suggest explicit braces to avoid ambiguous 'else' changer.c: At top level:changer.c:847: warning: 'changer_init' defined but not used changer.c:826: warning: 'changer_setup' defined but not used rm -f block.a ar rcs block.a ll_rw_blk.o ide.o genhd.o floppy.o rd.o changer.o ide-probe.o ide-pci.o ide-dma.o ide-proc.o ide-disk.o ide-cd.o make[3]: Leaving directory /usr/src/linux-2.2.8/drivers/block'
If I try to compile as a module, everything seems to work ok, but when I try to modprobe changer.o I get this error:
/lib/modules/2.2.8-changer/block/changer.o: unresolved symbol memset
Any tips would be appreciated.
