Hi,
Some quick testing reveals that 2.2.2-ac7 ignores ICMP host unreachable packets when *initiating* a TCP connection:
2.2.2-ac7 (Red Hat 5.2, Pentium 133): ------------------------------------- verdi /home/robn 23 % telnet 207.90.112.151 Trying 207.90.112.151... . . . <waiting till time-out>
tcpdump trace: -------------- 23:11:43.393786 verdi.et.tudelft.nl.4194 > dlp1170.dayton.eri.net.telnet: S 80263460:80263460(0) win 32696 <mss 536,sackOK,timestamp 4438482[|tcp]> (DF) [tos 0x10] 23:11:43.665913 dayusr19.eri.net > verdi.et.tudelft.nl: icmp: host dlp1170.dayton.eri.net unreachable
2.0.36 (Red Hat 5.1, 486/33): ----------------------------- [robn@berlioz ~]$ telnet 207.90.112.151 Trying 207.90.112.151... telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: No route to host
Sorry, I've no time to test 2.2.2 now. But I can do more tests later if someone wants more data !
Greetings, Rob van Nieuwkerk
