For existing programs the easiest way is to simply replace the
socket(PF_INET, SOCK_PACKET, ...);
with socket(PF_PACKET, SOCK_RAW, ...);
To use the extended functions of the new packet family see the packet manpage in ftp.muc.de:/people/ak/netman*
