Fails to compile:
[...] egcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m486 -DCPU=486 -c -o ide-cd.o ide-cd.c ide-cd.c: In function `ide_cdrom_probe_capabilities': ide-cd.c:2862: warning: unused variable `rq' ide-cd.c: In function `ide_cdrom_init': ide-cd.c:3217: `ignore' undeclared (first use in this function) ide-cd.c:3217: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once ide-cd.c:3217: for each function it appears in.) make[3]: *** [ide-cd.o] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/drivers/block' make[2]: *** [first_rule] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/drivers/block' make[1]: *** [_subdir_block] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/drivers' make: *** [_dir_drivers] Error 2
The code is obviously lacking a pair of
#ifdef MODULE ... #endif
because the comment at the start of the file indicates that the "ignore" parameter is solely for the use with MODULE After adding #ifdef..#endif pair everything compiled as it should...
