With 2.3.31 I get this:
eepro100.c:v1.09j 7/27/99 Donald Becker http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/eepro100.html The PCI BIOS has not enabled this device! Updating PCI command 0103->0107. eth0: OEM i82557/i82558 10/100 Ethernet at 0xc8017000, 00:06:29:CE:1E:F9, IRQ 11. Board assembly 000001-000, Physical connectors present: RJ45 Primary interface chip i82555 PHY #1. General self-test: passed. Serial sub-system self-test: passed. Internal registers self-test: passed. ROM checksum self-test: passed (0x24c9f043). Receiver lock-up workaround activated. [...] eth0: Transmit timed out: status 0050 0000 at 33884/33896 command 000c0000. [more debugging snipped]
It happened about ten minutes after booting, and then again about three minutes later. I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't look at the message ring buffer..
