    I don't know if this has been pointed out yet, but Wichert should go read the
    Large-Disk mini-HOWTO which is authored by Andries. It has lots of good stuff
    in it including an explanation of the 16383 cylinder business.

    Of course, I haven't run into this problem after migrating to the 2.2.x
    kernels.
