I pointed this out to Linus and Dave about 6 months ago as with 2.2 its fairly ok (kernel lock) with 2.3.x its a problem. There are ways to fix it for 2.4, and since any user can trigger the event in 2.3.x it _has_ to be fixed before 2.4.0
