This only works on systems with PC-style serial ports anyway, which doesn't include the Sparc so that shouldn't really matter.
Think of BREAK as a last resort to get some control over the hardware when the system has locked up. Whether that is by magic sysrq or getting you to a PROM prompt is irrelevant
