Yes an Intel box. I sympathize with you, particularly because I have had a lot of trouble also. But Graham Termarsch and Jan B. van Doorn steered me to isc.org and that program worked for me also.
I built the program dhclient with 2.0.36. It was straight forward to build and install. The only difficulty came with the file dhclient.conf. I used tcpdump on my working dhcp interface on 2.0.36 to guess at the identification hardware address. This program is now in the beta test phase.
