Hi *,
I've just tried what happens if there are two VGA-Boads installed in my box. One is a s3 virge, the other a matrox mysique. The system uses the S3 board as primary device. I've booted linux with this command line:
video=matrox:vesa:0x105,fh:64000,fv:90,novga video=vc:5-8
Ok, system comes up fine. matroxfb initializes the second vga board. fbcon takes over vt5-vt8 which appear on the matrox monitor, the other vt's available as vga text console on the S3.
Now my problem: ===============
The S3 has some problems with the font. setfont does'nt work. Sometimes I just get a corrupted font, sometimes the box hangs (at least the console, can't check network. Anyone has a spare vt100 for me?). If I leave X11 (XF86_S3V Server), I have a corrupted font on the text console. These problems do *not* occur if I boot with matroxfb turned off.
Anyone has a idea what happens here? Looks a bit like a hardware problem to me, but matroxfb is configured with "novga". There should'nt be I/O conflicts...
