OK , I found that mail on linux kernel ( dated 4-oct-98 ) :

[ this is the solution ]

Replace "include/kerneld.h" with the version that is in your linux kernel
and everything should be fine.

I believe you must replace the kerneld.h file which comes with the
modutils package ( that is the only way that makes sense :-)
