And cdrecord, in turn, mlocks about 4M of buffer from user-space; it may
use RT priority too, I'm not sure.

What needed help, last I knew, was the limit of a single buffer. I want to
do cdda extraction from both my UltraPlex and my CD-RW drive at the same
time, for instance...
