I have an alternate (and much simpler) fix for the thing, but I don't have access to any dual Pentiums, so I'll make a pre-2.1.121-2 one of these days and ask people to test it out.
And I'd better add a comment to myself so that I don' tmess up the check_bugs() things any more after that ;)
